When a deputy responds in Starbuck, the Sheriff may create a Starbuck incident report, arrest report, dispatch or CAD material, 911 audio, photos, transport paperwork, or body-camera footage. Ask for those Starbuck records by event date, time, location, report number, and desired medium when known.
The Sheriff's office is at the Columbia County Courthouse, 341 E. Main Street, Suite 1, Dayton, WA 99328. Its Dayton location does not make it a Dayton-only service. It is the county law-enforcement records office that serves Starbuck. Published hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays with a noon closure, though calls can affect availability.

Starbuck Court Records Say Columbia
A search result may display Columbia District Court or Columbia Superior Court rather than Starbuck. That is a routing fact, not proof that the event took place outside town. State court tools organize records by court and county. The official court directory shows Columbia's court and clerk structure but no separate Starbuck municipal entry.

A Dayton-based public event offers a limited visual example of the Sheriff's county role. The 2025 National Night Out announcement named Sheriff units and partner agencies.
The event occurred in Dayton, not Starbuck. It supports the shared county-service model only and does not show that any unit handled a Starbuck incident.
Starbuck Town Records Fill a Bank Vault
Starbuck Town Hall stands at 200 Main in the former Bank of Starbuck, built in 1903. The building became Town Hall after a 1993 renovation supported by volunteers, a state grant, private donations, and town funds. Its old bank vault now stores records. That detail makes the town's direct phone, mail, email, and in-person channels more than a fallback: some Starbuck administrative history has a real local home even without a search portal.
Those vault records are municipal, not a hidden criminal archive. Ask the Clerk/Treasurer about council, ordinance, finance, or town-operation material. For a police report, use the Sheriff. For a filed case, use the court. For custody, use Walla Walla. The building's past helps explain where town records sit, but it does not alter which agency owns a Starbuck criminal record.
Starbuck Crime Records Need Scale
The April 2025 state estimate placed Starbuck at 120 residents, compared with 3,950 across Columbia County. Census QuickFacts for Starbuck supplies a separate official place profile. Yet the published law-enforcement statistics cover the Sheriff's full reporting population, including Dayton, Starbuck, and unincorporated areas. The reported 152 offenses across that wider population cannot be relabeled as Starbuck crime. It is not a town-only count.
An offense total also does not equal people, arrests, court cases, or convictions. Clearance may mean arrest or exceptional clearance under reporting rules. A better Starbuck record check uses the event location in the source report, then ties the court case by number. Starbuck Video Records Stay with Sheriff
Columbia County deployed twelve Axon body cameras to all patrol deputies in December 2025. Starbuck Record Access Rules
The Washington Public Records Act applies to identifiable nonexempt records held by the town or Sheriff. Courts use GR 31 and their own clerk channels instead of the Act. Washington's criminal-history law permits release of conviction information and certain pending data while restricting other nonconviction material. Juvenile records, sealed files, victim information, private identifiers, and active-investigation details may be closed or redacted. Ask the correct keeper for an exemption explanation if access is limited.
